The warmest of welcomes to the following new associate members of Stockport Advanced Motorists.
We wish each of you great success with your advanced driving courses.
Darren Wood has passed his assessment and become an IMI-Accredited Observer. Warmest wishes and many, many congratulations to Darren on his outstanding achievement.
Stockport A.M. often receive enquiries from people who are keen to become
volunteers for Greater Manchester Blood Bikes (GMBB) and are looking for
advanced motorcycling training courses.
GMBB is a superb charitable organisation and we unreservedly and absolutely applaud them - indeed, one of our committee members is among their busiest car drivers (yes, GMBB do run cars as well as bikes, for larger cargos and when weather doesn't permit safe motorcycling).
However, S.A.M. is strictly a car-only affiliate of the Institute and so, sadly, we do not have a mortorcycling section.
For the DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme, GMBB themselves recommend Inner Circle Training Ltd
An ERS certificate is GMBB's minimum requirement for volunteer riders.
For IAM Roadsmart advanced mortorcycling courses please contact Manchester 500 or Congleton I.A.M. or Bury & Rochdale Advanced Motorists
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer car driver for GMBB then of course we'd be extremely happy to welcome you on one of our own courses!
Think!
the government’s designated road safety campaign, "Think!", has relaunched its Drink a Little, risk a Lot campaign, which highlights the consequences of even a few drinks before driving.
50% of young male drivers say they intend to be sensible but often get carried away when socialising, putting themselves at risk. The campaign challenges young male drivers’ perceptions around personal limits, by raising awareness that even a little bit of alcohol can put you and your licence at risk.
You can learn about the whole campaigning history of Think! here.
It's well worth a peruse.
